Some of the Fun Things Happening

September 8, 2021

I always love it when companies do a rebrand, except maybe in the case of recent car company logos.  Autodesk recently did a rebranding and I’m a fan. I’ll miss the colors, but the new logo and the corporate positioning are spot on for a company so instrumental to our lives.  Learn more at Autodesk.

In the NFT world, the success of the Bored Ape Yacht Club is bringing some crazy attention to new projects like Moon Boyz and Sneaky Vampire Syndicate, both of which launch this week. But the craziest crypto-art experiment was the release of Loot, not artwork, but a list of items, like something from a dungeon role-playing game. And then the fan base started creating the artwork to match. Instead of selling visual art as an NFT, he gave them the inspiration to create the visuals.  And Loot has generated $184 Million dollars so far.  Second top revenue generator in the virtual art world is the Mutant Ape Yacht Club, racking up $172 Million in the past 30 days.

All this activity is exciting because it is giving creators a new outlet. It is amazing to see radical career shifts for creators enabled by crypto and the blockchain.  This summer, a 12-year old sold $160,000 worth of NFTs in a day.  This is just starting and will be a thrill to watch as it expands every minute.
