Today, we built a ceiling, six walls and 37 bricks from scratch with Habitat for Humanity in hopes of bringing a family closer to the more eco-friendly home of the future. The entire Ideba team came together for a fun day of hard work in Seattle sun.
Since starting the company nearly three years ago, we’ve prided ourselves on giving back to the communities in which we do business, principally Portland, Victoria and Seattle. The reality is that companies have a moral obligation to give back, and to help others around them.
We’ve just spent time building a house for Habitat for Humanity in Seattle – a great team-building exercise. And next Friday, we’ll pack 650 backpacks full of school supplies for less fortunate kids that need a helping hand, through Schoolhouse Supplies. In Victoria, we’ll see our co-op student Michelle Clarke continue into her third internship on her path toward full-time employee status next year, as a part of our work with the University of Victoria, that will extend to sponsorships, coaching, and participation in a number of student events.
The really cool thing about the events in which we participate is that they act as a hub for clients and partners such as JPMorgan Chase to join us. We’re thrilled to have clients from the Bay Area and Seattle coming on Friday, as well as from the local Portland area. Some will even bring their kids to help out!
We’d love to hear how your company is giving back, using charitable work as a team-building exercise, or, as a way to spend quality time with colleagues, clients and business partners. Please let us know what kind of an impact you are making in your community!
