12878310_sHaving worked in the Marketing field for over 20 years, I’m a little cynical when it comes to TV ads, and their ability to cut through the clutter.

Why?

So much advertising these days feels like it is trying to deliver too many messages, in too short an amount of time… AND treats the viewer like an idiot, lacking the intelligence to form their own opinions or conclusions. Enter the Range Rover Evoque ad, produced by Y&R; featuring an unknown actor from Berlin, a beautiful actress from Eastern Europe, and Fosca, the Pointer doggy from the Czech Republic.

Why does the ad work?

The ad works because it’s a simple storyline, and there’s a purpose behind a featured character taking the vehicle off-road in the city environment. The message that Range Rover are trying to deliver with this spot is that their vehicle can cut its own path through almost any environment. The coolest thing for me is that this spot is timeless. Great advertising will always stand the test of time.
